The increase in care allowance in 2025 will bring an important financial improvement for over 475,000 Austrian recipients. Those affected can look forward to an increase of 4.6 percent, which means up to 95 euros more per month.

The Austrian care allowance will be significantly increased from January 1, 2025. The increase affects all seven care levels and is granted regardless of income, as finanz.at reports.

The increase is staggered as follows, depending on the care level:
Level 1: From 192.00 to 200.80 euros
Level 2: From 354.00 to 370.30 euros
Level 3: From 551.60 to 577.00 euros
Level 4: From 827.10 to 865.10 euros
Level 5: From 1,123.50 to 1,175.20 euros
Level 6: From 1,568.90 to 1,641.10 euros
Level 7: From 2,061.80 to 2,156.60 euros

Relatives’ bonus also increases in 2025
The dependants’ bonus, which has been paid out since July 2023, will also increase by 4.6 percent next year and will therefore amount to 130.75 euros per month or 1569 euros per year (previously 125 euros/month or 1,500 euros/year)

Several criteria must be met to receive the relative bonus. For example, care allowance must be received at level 4 or higher, care must have been provided for at least one year, the net monthly income must be less than 1,500 euros and there must be no self-insurance or continued insurance.

Additional bonus for care cases in Lower Austria
Lower Austria also has the Lower Austrian care and support voucher. This provides an extra 1,000 euros per year for people needing care. Applications can be submitted per calendar year from January 1 to December 31. There are also eligibility requirements here, details of which can be found on the state of Lower Austria’s website.
